1. All foreign Passport holders must take visa to enter Nepal.
2. On Arrival Visa: The following categories of people get on-arrival-visa at entry points of Nepal. If they wish to take visa from Consulate, they will be issued a visa.:
i. Travellers holding the passport of the countries eligible to obtain on-arrival visa of Nepal having received the full doze of COVID-19 vaccine,
ii. Holders of Diplomatic/Official Passports, UN Laissez-Passer and their family members, foreigners working at Diplomatic Missions, UN agencies and INGOs in Nepal, foreign nationals of Nepali origin and NRN card holders.
Required documents for on-arrival-visa:
i. Valid passport having duration of at least 6 months at the time of entry to Nepal
ii. Duly filled-in Visa application form and two passport size photographs,
iii. Pre-visa application approval print out
iv. Required visa fee (as $30 for 15 days, $50 for 30 days and $125 for 90 days)
v. Vaccine card/certificate of completion of full doze of COVID-19 vaccine
vi. PCR Test Negative Report taken within 72 hours at the flight boarding/check-in time if the traveler is unvaccinated or fail to submit a certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19.
vii. Copy of approval if the travel is intended for mountaineering or trekking or other activities requiring advanced approval
viii. The government of Nepal has decided to remove the mandatory provision to fill CCMC form effective from 28th July 2022, which is no longer required.
3. Travelers are generally advised to take visa from the Nepali diplomatic/consular missions located in that country. To obtain the visa from this Consulate, the applicant should apply with the following documents: (in person or by postal)
a. Applicant’s Passport having validity duration for at least 6 months at the time of entry to Nepal.
b. Duly filled in visa application form (downloadable at Visa Application Form).
c. One recent photograph of the applicant (2X2)
d. Applicable visa fee in Money order/Cashier check payable to “Consulate General of Nepal, New York”.
e. Printout/Receipt of the online visa application (visa pre-approval) at the website of Immigration Department of Nepal at https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/onlinevisa-mission/application
f. Proof/Copy of full doze of COVID-19 vaccination/Vaccine card,
g. Foreigners who have not completed full doze of Covid-19 vaccines or have not completed 14 days of the full doze of vaccines (Janssen single doze, others two),
h. If travelling to Nepal to participate in organized tourism activities (other than as traveler) as trekking / mountaineering, must submit recommendation letter from Department of Tourism/Department of Immigration of Nepal or Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with travel health insurance covering throughout the travelling period.
4. All travelers entering Nepal must submit following documents at the time of check in/ boarding and upon arrival at immigration point of Nepal:
a. COVID-19 Negative Report (RT-PCR /Gene Xpert/True NAAT equivalent) obtained within 72 hours prior their boarding/check-in time if the traveler is unvaccinated.
b. Vaccine Proof issued by the authorized agencies showing to have taken full dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Children below the age of 5 years are exempted from the requirement PCR Report if their accompanied parents have a Negative Report of COVID-19 and certificate of full dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
c. The mandatory provision to fill CCMC form is no longer required.
d. Approval letter/copy issued by the competent authorities of Nepal (where applicable such as Trekking/Mountaineering and other activities required prior approval.
These documents may be asked at the time of visa application, airport check in counter and upon arrival in Nepal.
